What to Eat, See & Do This Spring in Boston’s Seaport
Every year at The Envoy Hotel, Autograph Collection, we get to watch spring unfold on the Seaport, right outside our doors. The Harborwalk fills again with morning runners and evening strolls. Outdoor tables that sat empty through winter are alive with afternoon happy hours. It seems the city is born again, awakening in the sun like flowers in bloom.
Longer days and warmer weather beckon us to get out there and make up for time spent indoors. To wander art galleries, hop to local shops, catch a baseball game, and still have time to soak up the sun before dinner. In other words, it’s the perfect season for a Boston getaway. Here’s how to make the most of your spring vacation at The Envoy.
Dine Out Boston and the Start of Spring Events
Boston’s spring calendar begins with Dine Out Boston, also known as Boston Restaurant Week. Happening February 22 through March 7, the program offers lunch and dinner prix fixes at multiple price points, all around the city – oyster bars with fresh seafood, decadent Italian restaurants, and everywhere in between. Start at Para Maria at The Envoy for a taste of casual global cuisine. Get a coastal fox at Ocean Prime, just a 7-minute walk from our hotel. Or, for a bowl of something spicy and unique, take a 4-minute walk to Mecha Noodle Bar. You can even browse participating restaurants by pricing, so you decide to splurge or save, crossing off hotspots as you go.
Patio Dining and Rooftop Evenings
The return of outdoor dining is a springtime ritual. At Para Maria, patio seating is available as soon as temperatures allow, bringing energy back to Seaport’s waterfront. Those long, relaxed lunches, sunset happy hours, and al fresco dinners that stretch late into the night.
Para Maria’s warm, buzzy energy floats upstairs to the Rooftop at The Envoy, our very own Boston hideaway. Crackling fire pits, craft cocktails and iconic skyline views frame the ideal Saturday with friends. Spring time brings glorious sunny weather, and the busiest social scene. Pro tip: book your table ahead to reserve the best rooftop views in Seaport!
Outdoor Activity Across Boston
It’s time to shed those winter layers. Outdoor events in Boston are back in full swing, not least of all the long-awaited return of Red Sox baseball season at Fenway Park.
Boston’s famous swan boats are also out to play at the Public Garden, a favorite local tradition for more than 140 years. The leisure boat ride is even more beautiful in the spring, when vibrant flora paint the garden with shades of lilac and gold.
If you’re in town on March 1, then you’re in luck (maybe in more ways than one!). Lunar New Year celebrations take over Phillips Square. This year’s daytime parade honors the Year of the Horse. Join the fun and get to know Boston’s Chinatown at its most theatrical time of year.
Or, maybe you prefer to get to know a city with a drink in hand? Don’t miss New England’s largest wine event, the Boston Wine Expo on March 7 and 8. Sample wines from around the world and mingle with boutique winemakers while you brush up on your vino knowledge.
Just outside our doors, the Harborwalk is perfect for longer walks and bike rides. Take advantage of your wheels and hop around the best museums in Boston, like the Boston Children’s Museum and the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA).
A short trip inland takes you to the Charles River Esplanade, where you’ll find paved paths, open lawns, and river views. Bring a book to read in the sun, or relish in a bit of outdoor movement, like kayaking, paddleboarding, or casual sailing. For the padel fans, Boston has several pickleball courts and outdoor rec spaces across the city, all in easy reach of The Envoy Hotel.
Marathon Weekend and a City in Motion
Spring in Boston would not feel complete without the Boston Marathon. The 130th Boston Marathon takes place on Patriots’ Day, Monday, April 20, a Massachusetts holiday that honors the battles of Lexington and Concord.
The marathon draws runners and spectators from around the world, as it’s one of the most historic and recognizable road races in history. It creates a shared sense of celebration across the city, with crowds lining the course from Hopkinton to the finish in Back Bay. When you stay on the Seaport, you get the best of both worlds, a dip into the excitement of the city, and a calm return to The Envoy’s waterfront.
A Historic Year and a Global Summer Ahead
All that spring momentum carries into the summer with America’s 250th anniversary in July. We may be biased, but we’ll say there’s perhaps no better place to celebrate than Boston. After all, our city is the birthplace of the American Revolution. Plan your trip around historical reenactments, outdoor concerts and parades surrounded by historic landmarks like the Boston Common, Freedom Trail and more.
Boston will also host seven matches during the FIFA World Cup 2026 from June 13 through July 9, part of the largest tournament in global soccer history and the first to feature forty-eight teams. Fan festivals, watch parties, Sail Boston, and ongoing America 250 events will all unfold across the city at the same time, making Boston one of the most sought-after destinations to visit this year.
